Numerous castles and castle ruins above the Moselle cycle path

Anyone who follows the Moselle loops will see many impressive castles and castle ruins on the way, perched on the vineyard heights. If you look up at them, you feel really small! If you don't want to be satisfied with the view from the bike path, you can visit it and enjoy the view. The Reichsburg Cochem and Eltz Castle are particularly worth seeing because of their rich furnishings. The latter can be reached a little away from the Moselle via Moselkern. You can spend the night at Arras Castle near Alf, Thurant Castle high above Alken and Ehrenburg near Brodenbach. The Landshut castle ruins of Bernkastel-Kues are particularly historically interesting, as they are based on a late Roman fortress that gave the city of Bernkastel-Kues its name: Princastellum.

Experience adventurous legends and stories

Contemporary history can be experienced particularly well on the Moselle. Medieval craftsmen, jugglers and musicians take you back to earlier times: interesting themed events, guided tours or colorful castle festivals allow the Middle Ages and knightly life to flourish again and attract curious visitors all year round. The view of the Moselle valley can be particularly enjoyed with a glass of wine in a wine bar or a traditional castle tavern. The cycle tour along the Moselle cycle path is like a journey of discovery, where you can experience not only the landscape but also medieval life in a castle.
