Numerous restaurants, farm shops and farm cafés on the Ems cycle path

The five holiday regions of the Ems cycle path impress with their very different cuisines, which can be sampled in the numerous restaurants, farm shops and farm cafés along the cycle route. In East Westphalia and Münsterland, for example, you can find Pickert on the map. But be careful – these are two different dishes depending on the region. While the Lippe Pickert resembles a pancake, the Westphalian Pickert is made with potatoes!

Rye bread in an original way

Enking's mill in Emsbüren has another surprise in store for travelers. Westphalian rye bread is still baked here in the original way and is known for hearty meals or as a base for canapés. The mill operators show how diverse this rustic bread is - be sure to try the delicious pumpernickel cake with your coffee.

In Emsland, fresh dairy products and other provisions can be tasted directly from the farm in the Melkhüskes. And further up north, East Frisian tea and herring are of course an absolute must. Did you know that you buy garnet, i.e. North Sea crabs, in liters instead of grams from the cutter?
